How I Blend Into Your Day

When I show up to film a wedding, I am very aware of how I blend into your day. After filming close to a hundred weddings, I have a good grasp on how to stay aligned with each day. And work in a way that allows me to organically capture YOUR wedding authentically.

I do that by intentionally becoming a part of your day, and staying attuned to everything happening around me.

There are a few practical ways that I blend into your day as your wedding videographer:

ONE:

I dress in a way that I will blend in with your wedding and match your dress code. If you are getting married in Las Vegas and having a casual Taco Bell reception (like this amazing wedding here!) you’ll find me in dressy casual clothes. If you’re getting married in Florida on a yacht, I’ll be more formal to align with your aesthetic. As a general rule of thumb I usually wear black or something neutral. The only time you’ll find me in athletic gear is if we’re hiking up a mountain for your wedding!

TWO:

I choose gear that is light and compact so I can quickly capture moments at a moment’s notice. If I have clunky gear and have to switch things out too much, it can disrupt an organic moment. One of my core values here at Cydne Robinson Films is capturing your authentic moments as they are happening. I have designed my gear bag to equip me to do just that. My gear is accessible and quiet. That way I can truly blend into your day while capturing the seconds you’ll wanna revisit forever. I also make sure I have all the gear I need to quietly capture your ceremony from a distance. I don’t want to be a distraction for you or your guests as you’re sharing your vows with each other. I’ll just blend into the back!

THREE:

I take time on your day to get to know your guests so they feel comfortable on camera. No one likes a stranger pointing a camera in their face, so I make sure to introduce myself and help everyone feel relaxed. That way I get their true reactions on film!  I also get to know your bridal party while everyone is getting ready. So they know to grab me when something needs to be captured and everyone feels comfortable being on camera. Your day matters to me! So I stay truly present and connect with the people around so I can really integrate into your world, and blend into your day seamlessly.

FOUR:

I really do try to be a fly on the wall. I’m not pulling you away from your day for “special shots” if your main priority is partying with your guests!  Over the years, I’ve gotten pretty good at understanding what my couples are comfortable doing and what shots they want. I get all the moments captured in the moment. So aside from a few shots during formal photos, there is no “doing it for the camera” moments. You just enjoy your wedding fully and get to stay mentally present. And I am capturing it all for you.

And that is how I blend into your day and document everything in a way that will match your memories. That way you can relive it over and over again. I know every wedding is unique in it’s own way, and my goal is to show up attuned. So that I capture each wedding I film authentically on its own.
